The Art of Jimi Claybrooks

Welcome to a world of art and inspiration.

About the Artist

“I really have paid my dues”, is what Jimi Claybrooks says when you ask him about his career as a professional artist. Since 1970 when he did his first painting, Jimi has always known he had a knack for drawing and painting.

“I love art. I could talk about my art all day and probably bore you to tears, or…I could just let the work speak for itself.” And that body of work has really been extensive. Jimi started out as Art Director for Metro Music Corporation in Chicago in 1978 where he did everything from hand painted signs and posters to giant billboards and record cover albums.

He was hired on the spot after winning his 1st major art show, which was the Lake Meadows 25th Annual Art exhibit. That same summer he also won the 1st DuSable Black History Museum’s Annual Art Exhibit, curated by the late Margaret Burroughs.

Since then, he has placed 1st in every art competition that he’s entered. Jimi Claybrooks is a uniquely talented artist in that he paints in every medium there is. The bulk of his works have been done using a very rare and difficult technique called Egg Tempera. Having been nationally know and recognized as “the Master of Detail”, its easy to see why when you look at his work.

In addition to his art career as a painter and illustrator, Jimi is also a writer and a trained theologian. His latest body of work is a 3D animated series of video tutorials that teach the believer how to read and understand the Scriptures. He has been recognized as a Christian artist since he was converted in 1977.   Jimi’s work has been featured in movies, on television, and has been purchased by some of the most prominent collectors in North America. He hopes to unveil his greatest body of work, an all-new multi-media series in the very near future, so stay tuned.

A Special Calling

As a trained theologian, Jimi has done over thirty years of extensive research on the subject of eschatology, or “last day events”. His first series, “How to Study the Scriptures” is a major breakthrough in the art of Bible study.
